Ten Professionals Connecting
Japanese KOGEI with the World.

Rooted in over fifteen thousand years of history dating back to the Jōmon period, Japan’s crafts reflect a distinctive aesthetic sensibility and technical refinement.
This proud cultural heritage of Japan has continued to evolve through a balance of preservation and innovation, refined through reinterpretation across generations.
Yet around the world, the true quality of these crafts—and the rich cultural context behind them—remains underappreciated.
The KOGEI Art Producer Development Project+C16 (known as KOGEI GENE) aims to share the enduring value of traditional craftsmanship, while nurturing individuals who will inherit the creative DNA of "craft" (Ko) and "art" (Gei)—the spirit and skill passed down through generations. These “Kōgeijin” (craft-art producers) will serve as bridges connecting Japan and the world, as well as the realms of the market and academia.

Message

To cultivate global perspectives
that illuminate the beauty of Japan.

The Tokyo Art Club is launching the "KOGEI Art Producer Practical Development Project," a program dedicated to cultivating professionals who can interpret and communicate the value of Japan's traditional craftsmanship—from classical art to contemporary craft—for a global audience.
In recent years, we have sensed a decline in the international recognition and appreciation of Japanese art, which has not been adequately communicated or showcased abroad despite its profound value and allure nurtured through centuries of history.
Since 2024, we have been presenting a new exhibition titled "KO+GEI", introducing Japanese crafts to the world and conveying the idea that the essence of these works lies in Japan's ancient classical arts. Through these efforts, we have come to recognize that connecting Japan’s artistic heritage with the global art world requires the energy and vision of motivated individuals with an international outlook.
With the support of the Agency for Cultural Affairs and the Japan Arts Council, we are now beginning a producer training program designed to nurture professionals who will share the beauty of Japanese art with the world.
The Tokyo Art Club will continue to make every possible effort to ensure that Japanese art continues to shine brightly on the global stage.
We sincerely invite your interest and support in our vision.
